Our mission is to come alongside those struggling with addiction, homelessness, and/or poverty, including all ages, race, ethnicity, and income levels, so as to regain stability through a relationship with Christ.

Why Do We Need Addiction Programming?

✓ Alcohol/drug abuse disorders are estimated to cost the United States more than $400 billion dollars/year.

✓ 1 in 7 people will develop a substance abuse disorder in their lifetime.

✓ Only 1 in 10 of those with addiction receive treatment.

✓ Overdose deaths in the US has grown 44% since 2019

✓ Programs like Friends House Ministries save the City/County approximately $30,000/year vs. incarceration.

✓ When comparing drug overdose death rate by population, Tennessee ranks #2 in the Nation.

✓ Between 68 and 73 percent of addicts have a chance of making it to five or 10 years of sobriety, as long as they regularly engage in a program for at least the first year of their recovery.

Our Homes CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE

We currently have 4 homes that house 32 men. These men are required to work, pay weekly rent, and attend recovery meetings. They are also required to attend church as a group. Our homes are close to the bus line so men may easily get to jobs and meetings if they are without a vehicle. Men have come to Friends House through agencies such as drug court, rehabilitation facilities, judges, jail, homeless healthcare, and other ministries. We stay at 100% occupancy most of the time.

Residents are interviewed before acceptance and must be sober. There are expectations in attitude, behavior, and goals with which they must agree before entering. Violation of these expectations could result in loss of residency. We seek to do all we can to encourage success in sobriety and return to a productive, happy life. Residents cannot have a violent offense or a sexual offense charge against them.

Testimonials

"I can feel my life and foundation becoming stable for the first time. My job, meeting times, and all the programs they offer have become a way of life for me. They have taught me living a life of sobriety is not a moment but a lifestyle. If people are serious about their recovery, this is their place."
Phillip “Flip” - Age 33
"6 months ago, I was on the verge of suicide. I felt I didn’t know where to turn. I was referred to Friends House Ministries. The meetings and the programs they offer are non-pressured, which makes me grateful for the way they operate. They allowed me to recover at my own pace. Now I have restored hope and goals for my future. I love the job they referred me to, and I initially planned on staying a minimum of 6 months, and now I wish to remain at least a year to ensure I am as stable as possible as I continue my transition."
Tracy - Age 56
"I came to Friends House from another sober living home. I needed a quality place to grow, and over time I realized Friends House was an excellent decision. All the meetings, the classes, and the structure they provide are what I needed. I have graduated from the program, and I am successful at my job. I have my own apartment, and now I am looking to get married in the near future. In one month, I will be three years sober."
Patrick - Age 30
